Meet This Year’s Board Candidates

Antoinette Christaldi - Annie is our new membership chair. She’s eager to try out some new ideas to increase our membership. She is also a faithful SNR volunteer and spends a lot of time volunteering at the Hart County Animal Shelter.

Karen Klettner - Chairs the SNR Voucher committee and has attended all their events for the last 7 years, she has written the thank-you notes for donations to ARK for the past 2 years. She has attended and worked at the Dawgy Dash events from the beginning. She has been recruiting vets and secured contracts with the Leitchfield Vet Clinic and Country Critters.

Robin Mazakas - I work full time remotely for a Major USG Defense Contractor as a Subcontract/Procurement Manager and lead a remote Team that supports our US Military in the Naval Power Programs. I also volunteer with the local Salvation Army of Hart County and attend the River Pointe Church in Munfordville.

I love helping animals and started volunteering for ARK in 2023 by helping to foster a few kitties and then started supporting TNR in the fall. I became an ARK member in the Spring of 2024 and started as a Mentee for the Grant writing program under Ron Gonterman. I have learned so much in the last year about the Nonprofit Grant Writing and I'm just beginning to make the contacts needed to help find funds to support the ARK team.

Jeri Sutter - Jeri has taken on the task of Secretary for ARK’s Board of Directors. She does a great job wrangling the meetings’ activities into clear and concise reports. She enjoys time spent with her grandchildren and her critters.

Steve Thompson - Steve heads ARK’s Educational Outreach program, with exciting programs in each of the county’s schools. He also leads ARK’s Youth Corps program, working with youth to develop tomorrow’s leaders. They do a lot work with the shelter, in addition to helping with ARK’s programs.

One of his major goals is establishing a new shelter for Hart County. He has been instrumental in making that happen, with tireless work securing funding, land, plans, etc. He is working with the county every step of the way.

Proposed and Approved Revisions - ARK Bylaws

In 2015, when the founders envisioned ARK’s mission, they were focused on opening and operating a shelter. Since then, ARK’s purpose has evolved quite a bit. We now have a shelter run by the county, so our efforts go to supporting the shelter and managing programs that improve animal welfare, educate, and get as many animals altered as possible. Getting animals spay-neutered helps solve many problems in our community - overcrowding at the shelter, dropped-off animals, unwanted litters, nuisance ferals, and neglected pets. Because of the change in focus, our bylaws were out of date; a committee worked to revise them. We committed to an all-volunteer organization, to maximize the amount we can spend on programs.

The membership voted to adopt the revised changesat our annual meeting, 2025. Click on the link below to see the current bylaws.
